Frank Warren says Daniel Dubois v Anthony Joshua rematch isn't certain

Frank Warren has revealed that Daniel Dubois is not guaranteed to have a rematch against Anthony Joshua.

The British boxer retained his IBF heavyweight world title with a superb knockout victory against his compatriot last month and his promoter says that he could take on other opponents in his planned return to the ring in early 2025.

Warren told talkSPORT: "He'll fight next year, early next year. And we are just looking at a few matches.

"I hope we get it done by next week, who he'll be facing. But he's going to defend his title and we'll see who it's going to be.

"It may be AJ, it may not. It depends. But whatever happens, he'll be out.

"He'll be facing someone, that's for sure, and capitalising on what he did in that fight.

"I mean, he really, really announced himself on the world stage in a big way, didn't he?"

A huge card is said to be being planned for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in February next year and Warren is hopeful that his champion will be one of the main attractions.

He said: "That's what I would like to see.

"That's where I'd like to see him fighting. Well, we'll see what happens.

"I mean, I have no problem with that fight [Joshua rematch]. I'd have that fight all day long for him."

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that his charge was desperate for a rematch as it would give him the best possible chance of forcing his way back into the top echelon of the heavyweight division.

He told Sky Sports: "My initial thought after the fight was let's just chill out, maybe wait for Fury-Usyk.

"AJ's reaction was quite a bit different. Obviously out of pride you always want to take the rematch. But it's a little bit more calculated than that.

"It's more like, well, what happens if Usyk-Fury doesn't happen? What if someone gets injured, and even if it does happen they're not going to fight again until July, August? Then I'm out the ring for nearly a year and I want to be active."
