Regis Prograis doesnt think there's a 'man to beat'

Regis Prograis doesn’t feel there is a "man to beat" in the super-lightweight division right now.

The 35-year-old fighter – who will face Jack Catterall in the ring on Saturday (26.10.24) night – wasn't impressed by reigning champion Teofimo Lopez's victories over Jamaine Ortiz and Steve Clagget and he doesn't think there's currently anyone particularly outstanding in his weight class, leaving the door open to him.

He told Boxing News magazine: "You’ve got Devin [Haney], you've got Teo, you've got [Liam] Paro. Devin just lost to Ryan [Garcia] and Teo looked like s***.

"There's really no guy in the division, so this is an opportunity for me to become that guy once again.

"Teo is not the man to bet. There's really no man to beat at the moment and the biggest fight you can get outside the belts is me and Jack.

"We are two elite fighters.

"There's nobody who stands out as the guy at 140lbs. This fight will determine the guy – OK, the others have belt, but none of them are the guy."

Regis thinks the fight with Jack comes at the right time for them both.

He said: "We both have nothing. Thar's why we are at where we're at. We are in the perfect spot to fight. We both need something."
