The cruiserweight has drawn huge crowds at the Bournemouth International Centre and AFC Bournemouth stadium in recent years but will be facing his opponent in Saudi Arabia, and insisted he won’t be affected by the lack of thousands of fans cheering him on at ringside.
He told Boxing News magazine: I’ve boxed behind closed doors during COVID so I’m used to not always having all my fans there.
“I’ve got about 30 people coming out and they will be making some noise.
“I boxed behind closed doors in Matchroom’s back garden and also in front of a few hundred there too.
“You can hear the punches and you don’t get overcommitted or over-stimulated by the atmosphere.
“That has happened to in my last fight in Bournemouth at the BIC when everyone is enclosed.
“Shane (McGuigan, coach) has said, ‘I’m glad you’re not boxing at the BIC after the Mateusz Masternak fight. He says it’s too small for me now, because I don’t listen to him in there, I just listened to [the fans].”
And Chris doesn’t think his opponent has an advantage either.
He added: “But Ramirez hasn’t had much experience boxing in these circumstances.
“He boxed Dmitry Bivol in Abu Dhabi and that didn’t go well for him – and it will be the same result this time.”
