Jordan Spieth kept dislocating wrist at home

Jordan Spieth underwent wrist surgery after his joint issues began affecting his home life.

The 31-year-old golfer – who has three-year-old son Sammy and 14-month-old Sophie with wife Annie – had an operation over the summer and is hoping to be “tournament ready” by the new year, and he explained it had become “inevitable” that he’d need a corrective procedure because his wrist was dislocating so often.

He told bunkered magazine: “January 1 is my goal to be tournament ready. And, for me, that would be not just going out and seeing how it feels, but expecting to play at my ceiling.

“I would say the number one reason why I ended up getting the surgery was be cause it affects my way of life at home.

“It would dislocate and I couldn’t get it back in and it would happen when I’m getting my daughter out of the bath or I’m putting a sweatshirt on.

“It wasn’t going to heal itself, so it was just inevitable that I would get surgery.”

Jordan always loves playing in The Masters and hailed it his “favourite tournament in the world”.

He explained: “Augusta is the Mecca of golf, with some of the coolest memories, from Tiger’s chip-in to Phil’s first major and then going way back with Jack dominating the Masters and winning it six times.

“I just fell in love with the course and the beauty of that place.

“It exceeded my expectations.

“My first-ever tee shot there was the most nerve-racking I’ve ever hit.”
