The36-year-old boxer admitted his motivation for accepting Saturday’s (21.12.24) rematch with Oleksandr Usyk is the purse because he wants to ensure the seven children he has with wife Paris are provided for in the years to come.
He told Boxing News magazine: “I’m only doing it for the money, obviously.
“All prizefighters, if they tell the truth, do it for the money don’t they?
“Who here is not doing it for the money?
“I’ve got generational wealth, but I want more generational wealth.
“I don’t care about legacy, but one thing I do care about is my family, my kids, providing for them, looking after them. That’s it.
“I don’t want to work for f*** all. I want as much as I can get.”
And Tyson admitted he is seeking out the “easiest fights possible” for the highest purse he can.
He added: “I want the easiest fights possible for the largest amounts of money possible, whoever it might be.
“But I’m just saying, I don’t want the toughest fights possible for the least amount of money. I wasn’t born in a Christmas cracker.”
The Gypsy King has no plans to hang up his gloves any time soon.
He said: “My wife Paris has said she wants me to stop, but she did not say anything after the first Usyk fight.
“She knows I like to do what I do and she’s happy for me to do it.
“It gets me out of the house, doesn’t it? What else am I going to do, sit around counting money?”
