Mohamed Salah ‘far away’ from new Liverpool deal after The Reds thrash West Ham

Mohamed Salah is “far away” from signing a new Liverpool FC contract.

The 32-year-old forward scored his 20th goal of the Premier League season for ‘The Reds’ in yesterday’s (29.12.24) 5-0 thrashing of West Ham United, though has insisted he is not anywhere close to agreeing to a new deal at Liverpool yet.

When Sky Sports asked whether his future at the club was certain, he said: “No, we are far away from that [contract] and I don't want to put anything in the media.

“The only thing on my mind is I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of that.

“I will do my best for the team to win the trophy. There is a few other teams catching up with us and we need to stay focused and humble and go again.”

Salah added he was “just trying to enjoy the game”, though believed Liverpool was moving in “the right direction” to secure glory.

He continued: “I was a bit disappointed with some of the shots I missed today but I came here for the result. I am always hungry for more. Hopefully next time I will score more but the most important is that the team won.

“We are in the right direction but there are other teams trying to catch up with us. We just need to stay humble and go again.”
