The 23-year-old southpaw was upgraded to full WBC female lightweight champion last month after Katie Taylor vacated the title but she isn’t worried that she missed out on an in-ring coronation as she is determined to prove herself in the months to come.
She told Boxing News magazine: “A lot of people talk about me being denied that moment of beating someone and winning the world title in the ring but for me, I am not now going to walk off into the sunset and retire.
“I am going to defend it, unify, and eventually become the undisputed champion.
“So, I am going to have those moments further down the line.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s now or in the next fight, I will have those moments, I am going to have those tough fights, and when you get through them, it will be a sigh of relief.
“I am going to have those fights. Those moments will come.
“Being a world champion will now open those doors for me.”
Caroline isn’t disappointed not to have faced Katie in the ring but thinks even if she had successfully fought the sporting legend, any victory would be “discredited”.
She said: “I am not disappointed by the fact I never got to fight Katie.
“She is coming up to 39, and she’s had an amazing career.
“But if I went in there with Katie, I know I would win.
“But people would discredit me and just say Katie was on the slide.
“I feel the win would be discredited and taken away from me.
“If I went in there and beat Terri Harper, Alycia Baumgardner or Beatriz Ferreira, none of those victories would be discredited.”
