Kyle Steyn: Little room for error in Six Nations

Kyle Steyn believes there is “so little room for error” in the Six Nations.

The 30-year-old Scotland wing believes what makes the tournament so special is the “fine margins” between the sides and knows how important it is for each team to perform consistently well to stand a chance of winning.

He told Rugby World magazine: “With the Six Nations, the fine margins make it so special.

“One loss doesn’t completely derail you but it puts you right on the back foot.

“Two losses and you know your chance to win it is gone.

“The challenge for our group has been being able to perform consistently in these big games.

“And there’s no bigger test of that than the Six Nations, there’s so little room for error.

“You’ve first got to be able to perform and then be able to back it up.”

Kyle believes the Scotland squad is “really settled” and thinks it is great there’s a “healthy competition” in so many positions for a place in the starting line-up.

He said: “I feel like as a squad as a whole we’ve got a really settled group.

“You’ve got healthy competition in loads of positions because you’ve got a lot of guys now with a lot of good experience. That’s a great thing for Scotland first and foremost.”
