Hansi Flick 'really proud' of Barcelona after thrashing Real Madrid in Super Cup final

Hansi Flick was "really proud" of Barcelona's performance as they thrashed Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.

The Catalans came from behind to beat their rivals 5-2 in Sunday's (12.01.25) match and the coach was delighted with the attacking intent his team showed in their triumph.

Flick said post-match: "I'm really proud. Proud for the team, the staff, the club, the fans, everyone. Today was an unbelievable match. For the coaches, not so much! But for the fans it's really fantastic."

Barca's form in La Liga has tailed off recently after an electric start and Flick hopes that the Super Cup victory can act as a springboard for his team in the second half of the campaign.

The German coach said: "We have to learn from every match, and today's match. We can do things better, but we have a young team. We had some weeks where we didn't perform so good, and our situation in the league now is not nice. We speak about all these things in the dressing room, but for me it's important to focus on the next match."

It is Barca's second El Clasico win of the season after a 4-0 victory away to Madrid in October and Flick has eyes on the future after the success.

He said: "I don't want to look back. Today is a good day, we beat one of the best teams in the world, for the second time this season, it's unbelievable, we win a title here and we're very happy. Today is a day to be positive."
