Spurs are on a seven-game winless run in the Premier League but the Australian coach will not allow their alarming form to distract from what he is trying to implement at the club.
Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of his team's Europa League clash with Swedish outfit Elfsborg on Thursday (30.01.25), Postecoglou said: "I would never let whatever situation I am in define me as a person or a manager.
"I wouldn't be sitting here if that was the case, because there have been plenty of opportunities along the way for me to conform or to revert to type that other people want you to.
"I've always done things differently. I've always believed in certain things that I'm rock solid on, that I will never flinch on.
"In the toughest of times, you need some anchors, and they're my anchors, my values; what I believe about football, about teams, about myself.
"I won't let any situation redefine who I am, because ultimately that's what has got me sitting here from the other side of the world.
"Whatever advice people are giving me now, I guarantee if I had followed it when I was back in Australia, I'd probably still be back in Australia."
Despite their league woes, Spurs remain in three cup competitions and Postecoglou thinks that should serve as encouragement for the supporters.
He said: "It's exciting. I don't want to dismiss our current predicament in the league, but it isn't all doom and gloom.
"If that was the only thing we were fighting for, it would be hard for me to shift the focus away from saying, 'We've got to improve our league position'. Of course we do. That's logical.
"But there's also an opportunity for a club that is craving success to give themselves a platform to tackle that."
