Travis Kelce apologises to Kansas City Chiefs supporters for Super Bowl defeat

Travis Kelce has apologised to Kansas City Chiefs fans for the team's loss in the Super Bowl.

The tight end was far from his best in the NFL championship game last weekend as the franchise's hopes of winning a historic third straight title were ended with a 40-22 defeat by the Philadelphia Eagles and admits that that the defeat is a "hard reality".

Kelce said on his 'New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce' podcast: "It just wasn't our day. I couldn't find a lick of momentum. I'm kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field."

The NFL star continued: "I wasn't the best leader that I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool, collected.

"I put a lot of that on myself as the guy that's been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football and actually seen a situation just like this in the Super Bowl.

"It's a tough pill to swallow. It's a hard reality, man. I love my teammates, I love my coaches. Chiefs Kingdom, I'm sorry for how it ended."

Despite the pain of defeat, Travis is able to find a silver lining in the support of those close to him.

The sports star - who is in a relationship with music icon Taylor Swift - said: "I have a beautiful life. I have loved ones, I have the most amazing family in the world that supports me in everything that I do. They were all there, cheering me on and hoping for the best on Sunday (09.02.25)."

Kelce wishes "things could have been different" but also hailed the efforts of his brother's victorious former team.

He said: "I just have to tip my hat to the Eagles."
