The 26-year-old fighter admitted it was “tough” to stay at 9st 9lbs while boxing as a featherweight and he’s relieved the pressure is off to keep cutting the pounds in his new division.
He told Boxing News magazine: “Ah man, it was tough. I think the main thing with not cutting so much weight, the extra 4lbs, is I don’t have to do that much fight week, you understand?
“Now I get to relax, I get to recover. I don’t have to work as hard to get the weight off, that’s the best thing.
“Now I feel I can perform how I need to perform.
“Before, damn near the whole camp, I’m focusing on cutting weight.
“I used to have to make sure I train so many times a day during fight week, just to make sure I can sweat enough and get the weight off.
“It was tough but it comes with the territory.”
Raymond has been training in Las Vegas and adores working in Sin City.
He said: “It’s great. I love being out in Vegas.
“You’re gonna get a lot of work out here. Everybody comes here, it’s like the Mecca of boxing, for real.
“You’re gonna get all different types of styles, because fighters from all over the world come here. It’s always great to be in Vegas.”
