Alex Noren hopes others play golf because of him

Alex Noren hopes he has inspired at least one person to take up golf.

The 42-year-old Swede “doesn’t really care” if he is remembered after his death and feels uncomfortable reading anything about himself.

Asked the last thing he’d like written about him, he told Bunkered magazine: “I hate reading about myself or even watching myself on TV!

“Honestly, I don’t really care if people remember me but if someone picks up golf because of me, that would be great.”

Alex gets recognised “now and then” but rarely away from the green.

Discussing when he was first recognised, he said: “Wow, maybe when I got on tour, so probably when I was around 24 or 25. It happens every now and then but mostly on golf courses.”

When he isn’t playing, Alex is “into” gardening.

He said: “I actually bought a lawnmower recently. I love it. Yeah, I’m into gardening.”

But the golfer doesn’t spend much time at the cinema or seeing live music.

He said: “I don’t go to many concerts to be honest. One I remember most was Avicii, but none recently.

“I am a music man but there are too many other things I prefer doing…

“[My last trip to the cinema] was so long ago that I can’t even remember.

“It was something with my kids, I think it was called ‘The Bad Guys’. I prefer to watch Netflix.”
