Bob Arum: Tyson Fury won't fight again

Bob Arum doesn't expect Tyson Fury to box again.

The Gypsy King announced his retirement from the ring in January and the promoter doesn't think that the former world champion will make a U-turn about ending his career this time.

Arum told BBC Radio 5 Live's Boxing podcast with Steve Bunce: "If I was a betting man I would say he will never fight again.

"Marvin Hagler had an expression - 'a rich guy who goes to bed wearing silk pyjamas doesn't get up in the morning to do road work'.

"Tyson, really, I don't think wants to get up in the morning and do road work and go through the experience of having to train when economically he doesn't have to do it any more."

Fury's retirement has seemingly ended all hope of a blockbuster British bout against Anthony Joshua and the latter's promoter Eddie Hearn recently suggested that any chance of making the fight rested with Fury.

He told iFL TV: "I said it the other day in an interview, the way that fight gets made is probably Tyson reaches out to AJ and says, 'Mate, do you fancy it?'

"And he'll go, '100 per cent, let's f****** do it.' And it'll be made like that. So let's see."

Joshua has been out of action since losing his heavyweight world title fight to Daniel Dubois last September and Hearn has warned that his fighter won't "wait forever" to take on Fury.

The Matchroom boss said: "This is not down to us going to the team. This is down to one man. Only one man can make this fight happen, and that’s Tyson Fury.

"There's one man that can make this fight happen and that's Tyson Fury. We’re not waiting forever."
