The heavyweight was knocked out by Fabio Wardley in his last bout and ahead of Sunday’s (20.04.25) fight with the Ghanian, he’s been looking to reduce the chances of it happening again.
He told Boxing News: “Don’t get f****** hit.
“We got caught with a big right hand over the top last time, obviously fractured my cheekbone. We don’t want to get caught with them shots again.
“We’ve tried to improve the defence – not just the defence, my mind, the way I’m thinking, to avoid these situations.
"Get hit as less as possible and try to hit them as much as possible – simple as that recently.”
Clarke knows people will have written off his chances against Tetteh but he isn’t too concerned.
He said: “This fight for me is just about getting back out there and performing and showing people.
“We can talk and talk and talk and talk.
“The top and bottom of it is what sticks in people’s mind and what people remember is what happens on the fight night.
“I don’t want to come here and say too much, ‘I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that.’
“I’d rather everyone tunes in and they can make their own decision about it.
"For some people, it’ll be, ‘That Wardley shot, that finished him off. He’s not the same person.’
“But I’d like for most people to see the impression that, ‘He’s coming back, he’s got a new fire in his belly, he’s working hard, he’s learnt off some mistakes.’ “
