Lucy Bronze always there for young players

Lucy Bronze always there for young players

Lucy Bronze speaks to Chelsea’s young players “every single day”.

The 33-year-old right-back insisted it is important for upcoming talent to embrace the “challenge” they’re offered, but they know they can always come to her for help and advice if they need to.

She told Match magazine: “I don’t want to put my arm around them. No one ever did that to me.

“Everybody needs the challenge and sometimes you have to be thrown in at the deep end and see if you can swim.

“But I’m always there if they need any help.

“I speak to all the younger players every single day. I just want them to be the best player they can be.”

Lucy moved from Barcelona to Chelsea last summer and she’s pleased to be playing alongside her Lionesses teammate Lauren James.

She said: “It’s been exciting to be with Lauren James every day – she’s a fantastic talent!

“She has had a huge spotlight on her in the past few years, which has been difficult at times for her, but I know that she can become one of the best players in the world and I’m looking forward to seeing that at Chelsea.”

Lucy always strives for the best and is out to win major silverware with Chelsea.

She said: “Competing is a big thing for me and what comes with that is trophies and finals.

"Champions League finals, World Cup finals, and European finals don’t come along that often and they’re the best feeling you get as an athlete.

“Going for those every year is something that really motivates me.”
