The 28-year-old light-welterweight will face Mathieu Germain in Sheffield on Saturday (19.04.25) night and he’s excited to be headlining a bill in front of local fans.
He told Boxing News magazine: “It’s great to be back in Sheffield. No disrespect to Nottingham but it’s not quite Sheffield.
“Is it good to be back home? Of course it is. I’ve built big support in Sheffield, especially with Sheffield Wednesday Football Club. People always come out and show me good support.
“I think fighting in Nottingham last time showed my support is willing to travel, straight after Christmas as well.
“But, you know, there’s no better feeling than boxing in your hometown – especially headlining.
“I think my last four or five fights have been headliners and obviously the wins have spread to a wider audience, over to America.
“I’ve beaten good kids and my name is getting out there a bit.”
While Dalton ultimately has his eyes o a world title fight, he won’t be overlooking what he faces in Mathieu first.
He said: “I’m not taking my eye off the ball. I’ve prepared for this fight as basically my world title fight – because, realistically, if I put in a performance here, I’ve got my world title shot. So really, Mathieu Germain is my world title shot.
“I had some great sparring and I’ve not left any stone unturned in camp. This is my world title fight and I’m looking to go in there and put on a great performance.”
