The 34-year-old cruiserweight would support two-year-old Frank if he grew up and wanted to follow in his footsteps but he admitted he’d rather the tot pursued an “easier” sport.
He told Boxing News magazine: “I don’t like the idea of him boxing but, if he really wants to do it, then I’d back him.
“As a parent, you worry about the dangers of boxing. That’s the fear, when it’s your own flesh and blood.
“My dad was the same with me – he never really wanted me to go into the sport – and now I understand where he was coming from.
“There’s a lot that goes into boxing, not even just physically but mentally it can be difficult to deal with, so I’m hoping he chooses an easier sport.!
Chris thinks it would be “nice” if Frank pursued his current interest in golf, but thinks the tot’s other passion isn’t “much safer” than boxing.
He said: “Maybe golf would be nice – you’ll always have the nice weather, and it’s easy on the eye from a parent’s point of view.
“He’s got some plastic golf clubs at home and has had a few swings but he’s more into cars at the minute.
“Maybe he’ll become a race car driver, which probably isn’t much safer [than boxing] to be honest.”
