The 25-year-old footballer was a big fan of the children’s magazine show when she was younger so she was over the moon to make a recent appearance on the programme and will treasure the pin she received as a memento.

She told Telegraph Sport: “I did Blue Peter the other day and I was over the moon getting my Blue Peter badge. It actually felt better than winning the Euros!”

The Manchester United forward is keen to go on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ one day.

She said: “I wanna go on ‘I’m a Celeb’. I don’t think I’ll be as good as Jill [Scott], who won it, but I’ve always said it.

“When I was younger, it was ‘Blue Peter’ and ‘I’m a Celeb…’ and ‘Total Wipeout’.”

But Ella wouldn’t relish being chosen for the eating trials if she does make it onto the celebrity jungle contest.

Asked what would be her worst bushtucker trial, she said: “If I tell you and then I go on it and they make me do it…

“The drinking challenges… I can’t even swallow a tablet without gagging. Imagine swallowing some of that stuff.”

Asked if she’d be OK with spiders, she added: “Well…I’m probably not sure, maybe one, not a thousand. I think I’d be struggling all round to be honest!”
