Apple delays all-screen MacBook foldable

Apple has reportedly delayed its all-screen foldable MacBook.

The tech giant has allegedly been working on a laptop or iPad that featured a 20.2 inch or 18.8 inch screen that spans across the entire face of the device, though renowned supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has now claimed Apple has pushed back the machine from 2025 to late 2027 or 2028.

In a post on X, he wrote: “Some market participants previously expected Apple to launch the foldable iPad in 2025.

”But the current supply chain survey indicates that the foldable ‌iPad‌ has no visibility. This may also be because some call this foldable MacBook a foldable ‌iPad‌.”

Kuo cited “technical difficulties” for the supposed setback to the device, and said Apple has cancelled the 20.2 inch version of the machine and manufacturer LG Display was now expected to begin only building 18.8 inch screens.

A previous report from Haitong analyst Jeff Pu in May had suggested Apple’s first foldable would enter mass production within the next year or two following increasing evidence that the device existed in the company’s supply chain.

The insider claimed Apple would look to release the folding iPad or MacBook before launching a foldable iPhone akin to Samsung and previous Google’s efforts in late 2026.
