Apple to 'surprise launch revamped iPhone SE'

Apple bosses are reportedly planning to launch the revamped Apple iPhone SE in a surprise reveal next week.

Experts at the technology giant have been putting together plans to launch a fourth generation of the classic SE in 2025 with reports suggesting it will look more like the iPhone 14 than the current model - which is closer to the iPhone 8 - and now it seems the new handset will be coming sooner than expected.

Bloomberg reports the iPhone SE 4 could be announced as early as next week "in a bid to spur growth and entice consumers to switch from other brands".

The publication states the budget handset is unlikely to be given a big glitzy reveal and instead will most probably be announced in a statement on Apple's website as the company is already planning to unveil its new Beats earbuds PowerBeats Pro 2 on February 11.

According to 9to5mac.com, the new SE will boast the same 1170 x 2532 display resolution as the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and include Face ID for the first time.

The website also reports the handset is likely to be compatible with new Apple Intelligence features and feature the same camera as the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus as well as having Apple's first 5G modem.

It's believed Apple will be planning to announce the new phone with an increased prices from that of the third generation, which currently starts at $429.

The new SE phones will reportedly cost from between $459 and $499.
