Leaders in the city are looking to boost the number of tourists by developing up to 37 projects in the rural countryside outside the United Arab Emirates metropolis.
According to the Deccan Chronicle, five service and recreational stations are part of the plans, as well as offering a unique experience for both visitors and residents.
It's said the projects - dubbed the Dubai Countryside and Rural Areas Development Plan - will be developed in collaboration with the private sector, and the initiatives are part of a broader goal to enhance rural regions around the city through 2028 - and potentially beyond.
Some planned features include hot air balloon rides, kayaking tours, cycling routes, luxury desert camps and more.
Also part of the project are outdoor cinemas, traditional markets and cultural stations.
It's noted that a key priority is also to protect the area's natural beauty, and providing more nature and adventure experiences.
Meanwhile, quality of life should improve for residents, with boosts to local services and attractions, plus new healthcare facilities, parks and nurseries.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council - expects the plans to help provide a significant rise in annual visitor numbers.
Accordingt to the report, he said the project will help make "Dubai one of the world’s best cities in terms of quality of life and sustainability".
It's projected they could go from 500,000 to over three million by 2040.
