Disneyland Resort unveils 70th anniversary celebration plans

Disneyland Resort is launching a range of 70th anniversary celebrations including new parades and nighttime shows.

The iconic theme park - which first opened in July 1955 - will mark 70 years with a series of 'Celebrate Happy' limited-time events, which will kick off on May 16, 2025 and run to the end of the summer in 2026.

Disney California Adventure Park is introducing the World of Colour Happiness nighttime event to explore the theme of "happy".

Hosted by Joy and other characters from 'Inside Out' and 'Inside Out 2', the show will feature music from iconic films like 'Tangled', 'The Lion King', 'Turning Red', ' A Goofy Movie' and more.

Paradise Bay will also get transformed with lighting, lasers, dramatic effects and signature fountains, while the Paint the Night Parade returns to Main Street, USA.

In the exciting show, Mickie Mouse - with help from Tinker Bell's pixie dust and his own imagination - brings to live characters from 'Cars', 'Toy Story', 'Beauty and the Beast', 'The Little Mermaid' and more.

Disneyland is also bringing back the Wondrous Journeys nighttime show celebrating the classic films that have inspired Magic Kingdom.

The celebrations don't stop there, with 'Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! Parade' coming to Disney California Adventure Park.

There will be more coming to the resort as part of the celebration, with a medallion being placed on the Sleeping Beauty Castle, while Mickie, Minnie and their pals will wear special outfits at the party in Town Square.

Meanwhile 'Mickie and Friends Celebrate Happy!' - a special character cavalcade - has been created with guests joining in the fun.

The 'It's A Small World' facade will even get a boost, as a new projection show is coming for the evenings as part of the celebration.
