Dubai welcomed 16.79 million international tourists in opening 11 months of 2024

Dubai welcomed 16.79 million international tourists in the first 11 months of 2024.

The number marks a nine per cent increase from the January to November timeframe last year when the figure stood at 15.37 million international visitors.

According to the Dubai Tourism Sector's 2024 Performance Report, the emirate attracted 1.83 million international tourists in the month of November alone.

Other monthly figures totalled 1.77 million in January, 1.9 million in February, 1.51 million in March, 1.5 million in April, 1.44 million in May, 1.19 million in June, 1.31 million in both July and August, 1.36 million in September and 1.67 million in October.

Western Europe was the leading region for tourists visiting Dubai as it contributed 20 per cent of the total visitors, which translates to 3.298 million.

South Asia followed closely behind, with 2.858 million tourists accounting for 17 per cent of the overall visitor count.

The Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) countries ranked third, bringing in more than 2.5 million tourists and equating to 15 per cent of the total.

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eastern Europe and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions followed in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Meanwhile, the total number of hotel rooms in Dubai had reached 153,390 across 828 hospitality establishments by the end of November, compared to 149,685 rooms in 820 establishments at the same time in 2023.

The number of hotel room bookings during the first eleven months of last year surpassed 39.19 million - reflecting a three per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
