The entertainment resort has teased that a new attraction within the park will be based on their 1994 classic animation, and will join the likes of Avengers Campus, Worlds of Pixar and the upcoming World of Frozen as holidaymakers are invited to step into the world of the movies.
CEO Bob Iger said: "Guests are going to love the many new offerings coming to our theme parks, and we’re proud of the positive economic impact these projects will have in the communities in which we operate, including creating thousands of new jobs in Florida and California."
Little is known about the the new ride at present, but it has been revealed that it will focus on the story of Simba from his life as a cub to his eventual ascent to king.
During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, it was confirmed that the new area will begin construction in 2025 and open officially in 2026.
Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, said: "We are very excited and proud to be unveiling the next immersive area of Disney Adventure World, our second park that has been undergoing an expansion on a never-before-seen scale. This marks another milestone in the ongoing transformation of Disneyland Paris. After Worlds of Pixar, Marvel."
Michel Den Dulk, Portfolio Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, added: "From the moment the sun rose on the big screen in theaters all around the world, audiences were captivated by the story of The Lion King, and its characters, and it has not lost any momentum since. Our goal as Imagineers is to translate the emotional core of the film into this exciting project and have you relive that feeling all over again as you experience this unique attraction. I’m thrilled and excited that The Lion King will make its attraction debut here at Disneyland Paris."
